Clyde, New York: Jaiden R. Zimmerman, Teen EMT Student, Killed in Head-On Crash with Tractor-Trailer

A 16-year-old Clyde teen, Jaiden R. Zimmerman, was killed Friday morning after a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer on a rural stretch of Route 414. The crash ended the life of a young volunteer EMT student who was already committed to serving others.

The incident happened around 8:55 a.m. in the town of Tyre in Seneca County. Authorities said Zimmerman was driving south when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lane on a slight curve and struck an oncoming semi-truck.

Zimmerman was behind the wheel of a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox at the time of the crash. The truck involved was a 1985 Peterbilt driven by 48-year-old Nelson S. Sensenig of Romulus.
Zimmerman was the only person inside the SUV. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to the impact of the collision.

He was known locally as a volunteer with the North Seneca Ambulance Service. The organization described him as someone who showed strong dedication and a real desire to help others.

He was also a devoted member of Maple View Mennonite Church. His involvement in both his church and emergency service training reflected a young life focused on service and responsibility.

His funeral has been scheduled for Friday. State police say the cause of the lane departure is still under investigation by the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.
