Morrow County, Ohio — On a quiet Lincoln Township evening, a routine drive changed into a heartbreak for one family. Around 6:56 p.m. Sunday, a two‑vehicle collision on County Road 25 near State Route 61 claimed the life of 27‑year‑old Skylar Beveridge of Mount Gilead and his 10‑year‑old daughter, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers say Beveridge was heading eastbound in a 2003 Jeep Liberty when the Jeep crossed left of center and struck a westbound 2011 GMC Sierra driven by 18‑year‑old Brody Vance of Marion. The impact was severe, and the Jeep came to rest on the north side of the road while the pickup truck stopped on the south.
Emergency crews rushed Beveridge to Morrow County Hospital, but he later died from his injuries. His daughter, riding with him, was pronounced dead at the scene. The patrol reported neither was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Vance was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital with serious injuries and remains in treatment.
Authorities have said that alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash. Troopers and local emergency services continue to investigate the full circumstances of what led to the Jeep crossing the center line. Officials also reminded drivers that seatbelt use remains one of the most effective ways to reduce deaths in crashes.
Neighbors described County Road 25 as normally calm, a rural stretch where families travel home in the early evening. The loss of two young lives has left the community in shock, prompting local leaders to stress caution and road safety. Funeral arrangements for Beveridge and his daughter have not yet been announced.
