A quiet stretch of highway in Acadia Parish turned tragic Saturday night when 17-year-old Hayden Castille lost his life in a violent two-vehicle crash. The incident happened around 8 p.m. along Louisiana Highway 95, near Wikoff Cove Drive, just outside Church Point. What should have been an ordinary evening ended in heartbreak for a young life cut short.
State police say Hayden was riding a Honda ATV northbound on the highway when an Audi approached from behind. For reasons still under investigation, the Audi slammed into the rear of the ATV. The impact was forceful enough to flip the vehicle, throwing Hayden off and onto the roadway.

Investigators noted that the ATV did not have its lights on at the time of the crash. That detail is now a key focus as troopers work to piece together exactly what went wrong. The dark roadway and lack of visibility may have played a role, but officials have not reached any final conclusions.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the injuries Hayden suffered were too severe. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The loss has left a deep void in the small community of Branch, where news of the teenager’s death spread fast and heavy.
The driver of the Audi, who authorities say was not properly restrained, walked away without injuries. That contrast has only added to the weight of the tragedy, raising more questions than answers about how the crash unfolded and why the outcome was so uneven.
Louisiana State Police continue to investigate all contributing factors, including speed, visibility, and driver behavior. At this stage, officials are being careful not to speculate, emphasizing that the case remains open and active.
For now, the focus remains on Hayden Castille, a 17-year-old whose life ended too soon on a dark Louisiana road. In communities like this, losses are not just statistics. They are deeply personal, felt in homes, schools, and among friends who now must carry on without him.
