Alamo, Texas — Military Veteran Ismael Alemán Killed in Early-Morning Hit-and-Run

The quiet streets of Alamo turned tragic before sunrise Friday when a local military veteran was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash. Police say 43-year-old Ismael Alemán lost his life after being hit by a vehicle that sped away, leaving investigators searching for answers and a community mourning one of its own.

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of West Frontage Road, near Alamo Rec and RV Park. Officers with the Alamo Police Department responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian. When they arrived, they found a man lying in the roadway after being struck by a passing vehicle.

Emergency responders attempted to assess the situation, but the injuries were severe. Authorities later confirmed the victim was Ismael Alemán, a 43-year-old military veteran known to many in the community. Officials said he died at the scene.

Investigators say the driver responsible for the collision did not stop to help. Instead, the vehicle left the area immediately after the crash, turning what might have been a tragic accident into a criminal investigation.

Police believe the vehicle involved may be a gray or silver Nissan Rogue. Detectives say the SUV likely has noticeable damage on the front-right bumper. The passenger-side mirror may also be broken, damage that investigators hope someone in the community may recognize.

Authorities are now asking residents and nearby business owners to review surveillance cameras from early Friday morning. Investigators specifically want to see any footage recorded between 3:15 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. that might show a vehicle matching the description driving through the area.

Police say even a small detail could make a difference. A damaged SUV parked in a driveway, a vehicle being repaired, or security footage showing a Nissan Rogue traveling along West Frontage Road could help detectives identify the driver.

For Alemán’s family and friends, the loss is deeply personal. A veteran who once served his country, he is now remembered by neighbors as someone who was part of the fabric of the community. As investigators continue to piece together what happened that morning, authorities hope someone will come forward with the tip that finally brings answers and accountability.
