ALABAMA 158 Crash Kills Fort Walton Beach Woman in Head-On Collision

Shelly R. Ogden, 54, of Fort Walton Beach, died Monday afternoon in a violent head‑on crash on Alabama 158, about five miles west of Semmes. She was a passenger in a Kia Sportage that collided with a Toyota Sienna just after noon.

Shelly Ogden’s life was cut short in an instant. Friends and family described her as warm and generous, someone who lit up every room she entered. On March 16, she was riding with a friend when their SUV met the other vehicle head‑on. The impact was severe and left her with fatal injuries.

Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene. The driver of the Kia, 55‑year‑old Suzannah M. Stone of Plant City, Florida, survived and was taken to a hospital. In the Toyota, 69‑year‑old Donna K. Williams of Niceville, Florida, and her 54‑year‑old passenger, Robert W. Williams, were also injured and hospitalized.

Witnesses said the crash shook nearby fields and brought traffic to a halt. Drivers pulled over to offer help as first responders rushed to the scene. Families of those involved were notified and rushed to hospitals to be by their loved ones.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division are still investigating what caused the collision. They haven’t yet said whether speed, weather, distraction or impairment played a role. The stretch of Highway 158 where it happened is a rural road that can be busy in the middle of the day.

Shelly’s community in Mobile County is reeling. Neighbors talk about her kindness, her ready laugh and how she was always the first to offer support when someone was in need. Her sudden death has left a hole in their daily lives.

People who knew her say they will remember her strength, her spirit and her genuine care for others. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging drivers to stay alert and cautious on roadways to help prevent another family from facing such an unimaginable loss.
