Bullittsville Road Crash Takes Burlington Teen’s Life in Hebron

Bullittsville Road in Hebron was the scene of a devastating accident late Sunday night that left 16‑year‑old Zachary Snyder dead and three other teenagers injured. The tragedy unfolded just after 10:30 p.m. when a 2015 Honda Accord failed to make a sharp right‑hand curve and veered off the road.

Snyder was riding in the front seat and was thrown from the car during the crash. He became trapped underneath the vehicle and was later pronounced dead at the scene. His family, friends and the tight‑knit Burlington community are now struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of a young life.

The driver of the car, also 17 and from Burlington, lost control as the vehicle crossed the center line, struck several trees, then flipped onto its roof. Two backseat passengers, a 17‑year‑old boy and an 18‑year‑old woman from the area, managed to get out of the overturned car on their own.

First responders arrived quickly and transported the driver and backseat passengers to local hospitals. Officials say their injuries are not life‑threatening, but the emotional shock in the community runs deep as neighbors and classmates reel from what happened on a road many use every day.

Investigators with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office believe speed played a role in the crash, and they noted neither Snyder nor the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time. The road was closed for several hours while the accident reconstruction team worked to understand the sequence of events leading up to the fatal collision.

Friends remember Zachary as a vibrant young person with dreams and plans typical of a 16‑year‑old. The sudden end to those plans has left a void in the Burlington community that will be hard to fill. Vigils and memorials are being planned as people gather to support Snyder’s family through their grief.

Authorities continue to investigate, but for now the focus remains on comforting those affected and urging others to take safety seriously on the roads.
