PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Port St. Lucie Man Arrested After Fleeing Scene in Father’s Shooting Death

A Port St. Lucie man is behind bars after a dramatic police search led to his arrest Wednesday afternoon in Hollywood, Florida, months after he allegedly shot and killed his own father in their neighborhood. The victim has been identified as 69-year-old Glen Morrison, found dead inside his garage following a dispute with his son early Wednesday morning.

Police reports show that officers were called to the Morrison residence on Northwest Ketona Circle around 7:47 a.m. following a 911 call from the victim’s wife. When officers arrived, they found the elder Morrison suffering from a gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at the scene. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from an argument inside the house between Morrison and his adult son.

The suspect, 41-year-old Sheldon Brian Morrison, is believed to have retreated into the home during the argument, armed himself, then returned to the garage where he shot his father. Shellshocked neighbors described hearing the usual morning quiet shattered by sirens as police arrived and cordoned off the area.

After the shooting, police said Sheldon Morrison drove away in a gold or beige Cadillac sedan before officers got to the home. A manhunt quickly followed as law enforcement worked to track him down. Officers blocked streets and alerted nearby schools and residents to be cautious, though authorities stressed the situation appeared to be isolated to the family.

By early afternoon, the search ended with his arrest in Hollywood. Officers took him into custody without a struggle, ending hours of uncertainty in the community. Police confirmed that the suspect was found and detained without incident, and that he was no longer considered a danger to the public.

Authorities have not yet released details on charges or whether Morrison has made any statements following his arrest. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence, speak with family members and neighbors, and piece together what triggered the dispute that led to a fatal shooting.

Friends and neighbors of the family expressed disbelief that such violence erupted in a neighborhood many described as calm and tight-knit. Several residents spoke about knowing both father and son and expressed sorrow for the loss of a life and the trauma inflicted on a family.

Police urge anyone with information about the case to contact the Port St. Lucie Police Department as the investigation continues, reminding the public that even small details can be crucial in understanding what happened.
