La Porte, Indiana — Jose A. Jenkins, a 50‑year‑old La Porte resident, died early Friday in a frightening single‑vehicle crash on U.S. 35 that shocked family and neighbors. He was pronounced dead at the scene after his Hummer left the road and flipped, authorities confirmed.
It happened about 4:15 a.m. on U.S. 35 just north of Stonehedge Way. Police say Jenkins was driving south when his vehicle drifted off the west side of the road, ran onto a grass shoulder, hit gravel, then became airborne before landing and stopping far from the pavement.
