Twin Lakes Amber Montana Killed in Apartment Shooting

The quiet stretch of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, was shaken Monday morning when 37-year-old Amber K. Montana was found shot to death inside her apartment. Police say the violence unfolded just after 9 a.m. at the Tan Oak Apartments along Wilmot Avenue, turning what should have been a routine start to the day into a scene of shock and grief.

Officers arrived quickly after reports of gunfire and stepped into a devastating situation. Montana was inside the unit with fatal gunshot wounds. In a detail that has left many shaken, an 11-month-old baby and a dog were also in the apartment at the time. Neither was harmed, but their presence added a heavy emotional weight to an already tragic scene.

Neighbors said they heard multiple gunshots ring out that morning. For a place known more for its calm than chaos, the sudden burst of violence cut deep. Some residents stayed indoors, while others watched from a distance as police secured the area and began their investigation.

Authorities detained 35-year-old Brandyn R. Hall at the scene. Investigators later confirmed that he was arrested and charged with several serious offenses, including first-degree intentional homicide. Police also say Hall admitted to killing Montana during the course of the investigation.

Additional charges against Hall include first-degree recklessly endangering safety, possession of a firearm by a felon, and disorderly conduct while armed. Each charge reflects not only the loss of life but the level of danger present in that apartment at the time of the shooting.

Law enforcement officials moved to reassure the public, stating there is no ongoing threat to the community. Even so, the emotional impact continues to ripple through Twin Lakes. Residents are left processing how something so violent could happen so close to home.

The investigation remains active, with the Twin Lakes Police Department working alongside the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office. For now, the focus stays on understanding what led to the shooting and ensuring justice for Amber Montana, whose life was cut short in a moment that has left a community searching for answers.
