Police say the violence unfolded just after 9 a.m. at the Tan Oak Apartments along Wilmot Avenue, turning what should have been a routine start to the day into a scene of shock and grief.
Officers arrived quickly after reports of gunfire and stepped into a devastating situation. Montana was inside the unit with fatal gunshot wounds. In a detail that has left many shaken, an 11-month-old baby and a dog were also in the apartment at the time.
