Tyler Nynas, Thomson: A devastating single-vehicle wreck cuts a vibrant young life short and leaves a tight-knit community shattered.

Thomson Township is the kind of place where everybody knows your name. Right now, that name on everyone’s lips is Tyler Nynas. A sudden, terrible car crash on Sunday evening took the 25-year-old away from the people who loved him most.

It happened right near the intersection of Thomson Road and Kangas Road. Tyler was driving when his vehicle suddenly left the pavement. The impact was catastrophic, and there was nothing the emergency crews could do when they arrived. Tyler died right there at the scene.

Folks in town are absolutely heartbroken. Tyler was the kind of guy who could light up any room he walked into. He had this infectious smile and a genuinely caring nature that made people feel safe around him. He was fiercely loyal to his family and his tight-knit circle of friends.

Now, those same friends are left trying to process an immeasurable void. Social media is filling up with memories of his generosity and his big heart. It is a harsh reminder of how quickly everything can change on a quiet weekend night.

The crash did not just take Tyler. It also left his 26-year-old passenger, Alexander Wheeler, fighting for his life. Alex comes from nearby Barnum and was riding along when the vehicle went off the road.

First responders had to call in a medical helicopter to get Alex to the hospital. He was flown straight to the nearest major medical center in Duluth. Right now, he is still under intense medical care with critical injuries. The whole community is keeping him in their prayers, hoping for a miracle recovery.

Investigators are still trying to piece together exactly what went wrong. Local police confirmed that no other cars were involved in the wreck. For now, the Nynas family is planning a memorial service to celebrate Tyler’s short but beautiful life.
