PINE BLUFF: Father and Daughter Killed in Early Morning Motorcycle Crash

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas — A quiet stretch of South Blake Street turned into a scene of tragedy early Monday morning when a father and his adult daughter lost their lives in a motorcycle crash that’s left this close-knit community shaken.

At about 1:00 a.m., police say a motorcycle heading south on Blake Street near Miramar Drive veered off the road. The driver, 44‑year‑old Joanthony Garcia, and his 22‑year‑old daughter, Junique Garcia, were thrown from the bike. Both were pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining fatal injuries.

Neighbors who live along the residential corridor described hearing sirens but were still waking up to the devastating news later in the day. Blake Street is lined with modest homes and trees that make it feel like a quiet neighborhood — so news of such a sudden loss hit hard.

Investigators with the Pine Bluff Police Department are still working to understand exactly what caused the motorcycle to leave the road. So far, no further details on speed, weather, or possible contributing factors have been released.

Friends and family are mourning two lives taken too soon. Joanthony was known locally as a dedicated father, and Junique was remembered for her bright spirit and close bond with her dad. For many in Pine Bluff, the image of the two of them together on a Sunday afternoon now stands in stark contrast to Monday’s news.

Motorcycle crashes are a known danger because riders have little protection against impacts. Arkansas law requires helmets for riders and passengers, and police didn’t immediately say whether helmets were worn.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen the motorcycle before the crash, or who has information about what happened, to reach out to the department’s detective tip line or dispatch center.
