The Chico and Paradise communities are grieving the tragic loss of Carter Fuller, a 13-year-old boy whose life was cut short following an ATV crash on Skyway near Nimshew Road on Wednesday evening.
Friends, family members, classmates, and neighbors have been left stunned by the sudden tragedy. Those who knew Carter describe the loss as unimaginable, with many struggling to accept that someone so young and full of promise is gone.

According to authorities, the crash happened at about 5:56 p.m. on June 10. Investigators said Carter was riding a 2007 Yamaha Raptor 700 eastbound along Skyway when he lost control of the ATV for reasons that remain under investigation.
Officials said the vehicle traveled off the roadway and onto the right shoulder before striking a tree. The impact threw Carter from the ATV, causing critical injuries.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene and immediately began providing medical care. Carter was then transported to Enloe Medical Center as first responders worked to save his life.
Despite those efforts, he later died from the injuries he suffered in the crash. His death has left a deep void among family members and throughout the wider community.
Authorities confirmed that Carter was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Investigators also said early findings show that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
The California Highway Patrol continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. As the investigation moves forward, many in Chico and Paradise are focusing on remembering Carter’s life and offering support to those closest to him during an extraordinarily difficult time.
