A young couple, Tanner Pierce and Nevaeh Finch, had their whole lives ahead of them. Instead, they were cold-bloodedly executed alongside Tanner’s parents, Holly Kimball and Sterling Pierce, right inside what should have been their safe haven. The quiet community of Livonia is reeling after this unthinkable act of violence tore a family completely apart.
It all unfolded on a regular Tuesday afternoon around 5:30 p.m. Neighbors on Rensellor Street suddenly heard the terrifying sounds of gunshots shattering the neighborhood peace. When the police rushed to the scene, they walked into a total nightmare. On the backyard patio lay the bodies of Holly, 53, and Sterling, 58, both gone too soon after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

Inside the house, the tragedy only grew heavier. Officers searched the rooms and discovered 22-year-old Tanner and his 21-year-old girlfriend, Nevaeh, dead inside a bedroom. They had also been shot multiple times. Even the family dog was caught in the crossfire, suffering a gunshot wound to its front right leg before being rushed to an emergency vet clinic in Plymouth for treatment.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy couldn’t hide her heartbreak over the situation. She pointed out how terrifyingly difficult it is to protect yourself when the threat comes from inside your own home. An entire family was essentially wiped off the map in a flash, leaving friends and loved ones completely shattered by the loss.
Investigators later revealed that the shooter didn’t hold back, using a semi-automatic rifle to fire multiple rounds at the helpless victims. Police recovered several firearms from the home during their search. While Tanner and Nevaeh seemed completely disconnected from any family drama, investigators noted that things had been deeply strained inside the household for a while.
Livonia Police Chief Thomas Goralski mentioned that there was a history of bad blood and ongoing tensions between the suspect and his parents. No one ever expected those arguments to boil over into a mass shooting. Livonia is a massive, tight-knit suburb just west of Detroit with about 95,000 residents, and folks here aren’t used to this kind of horror.
Now, the memory of the victims is all that remains as the community tries to process the grief. Gage Wade Pierce, the 25-year-old son and brother, was arrested right at the scene without a fight. He faced a judge on Friday morning at the 16th District Court, where he was denied bond and hit with four counts of first-degree murder.
