The quiet neighborhood near Happy Valley Road and 83rd Avenue in Peoria was shaken Monday evening after a man walked up to a moment that would change everything. Police say 29-year-old Jonathan A. Turk called 911 and calmly admitted he had just killed his parents.
Officers arrived shortly after 6 p.m. on March 31 and found Turk outside the family home. He did not resist arrest. Inside, they made a grim discovery. His parents, Tina B. Turk, 56, and Fraser S. Turk, 63, were found dead.

According to court documents, Turk told police he attacked his parents with a hammer and a knife. He reportedly said he became angry after they put him on medication. During the 911 call, he told dispatchers where the weapons could be found and said he would wait outside for officers.
Investigators moved quickly to secure the scene. Turk was taken into custody without incident and later booked on two counts of murder. Authorities say, based on early findings, this appears to be an isolated case with no ongoing danger to the public.
Records show this was not Turk’s first interaction with law enforcement. In May 2023, police issued an endangered missing person alert for him before confirming he had been found safe. That past incident has now taken on new weight as investigators piece together what led to this tragedy.
Neighbors and friends are still trying to process what happened. Those who knew the victims described Tina and Fraser as deeply kind people. A close friend called them “beautiful souls,” adding that the couple had been married for 30 years and were known for their steady love and generosity.
As the investigation continues, the home now sits quiet, marked by loss and unanswered questions. Police say more details will come as they work through the case, but for now, a family’s story has ended in a way no one saw coming.
