Doral Teens Mateo Dávila, Alessia Tucci Killed in Fiery Crash

A quiet Tuesday evening in Doral turned tragic when two high school students lost their lives in a devastating crash that left a community in shock. Mateo Dávila, 17, and Alessia Tucci, 16, were identified as the victims after the car they were in burst into flames along Northwest 87th Avenue.

Police said the crash happened around 6 p.m. The teens were traveling south in a Kia sedan when the vehicle suddenly veered off the road and slammed into a pole near 54th Street. The impact was severe. Within moments, the car caught fire, leaving little chance for survival.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but the flames had already consumed the vehicle. Both teens were pronounced dead on the spot. Authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved, making it a single-car crash with unanswered questions.

The loss hit close to home for many. Mateo and Alessia were both students at Downtown Doral Charter Upper School. School officials shared the heartbreaking news with families the following day, confirming what many feared. Friends described the two as a couple, often seen together, and deeply connected.

By Wednesday morning, grief filled the air. Students gathered both at the crash site and on campus. Flowers, handwritten notes, and candles lined the area where the crash happened. Some stood quietly. Others cried openly. Many struggled to process how two familiar faces could be gone so suddenly.

Investigators are still working to understand what caused the driver to lose control. There were no immediate signs of another vehicle or outside interference. Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen the crash or has video from the area to come forward.

For now, a school and a city are left mourning two young lives cut short. The memories of Mateo and Alessia remain strong among classmates who say they will not be forgotten.
