CINCINNATI Shooting Casts Spotlight on Suspect De’Angelo Robinson in Party Bus Death

In Cincinnati early Saturday, a party bus became the scene of a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a young man and left another hurt as bars emptied into the streets. Around 1 a.m., police were called to the 200 block of East Third Street in the downtown entertainment district after gunshots echoed through the night.

At the scene, officers discovered 29‑year‑old Tobias Hood inside a bus used to shuttle groups between late‑night venues. Hood was pronounced dead at the scene from his wounds. Just steps away, another man was found suffering from a gunshot injury and rushed to UC Medical Center, where doctors say he is expected to recover.

Authorities quickly arrested 28‑year‑old De’Angelo Robinson and charged him with murder in connection with Hood’s death. Police also recovered a firearm believed to be involved in the shooting. At this point, detectives have not publicly disclosed what may have sparked the violence or how Robinson and Hood were connected.

People who witnessed the aftermath described a tense scene downtown. The usual hum of nightlife was replaced by the sights and sounds of police activity — patrol cars, taped‑off blocks, and officers speaking with shaken bystanders. A party crowd that moments earlier had spilled into the streets was now standing in solemn clusters, trying to process what had happened.

Friends and acquaintances of Robinson have remained largely silent while the case unfolds. Neighbors near the shooting site said they were surprised to hear of the arrest, noting that gun violence in the nightlife district was a growing concern. Some residents have called for more police presence at peak hours to keep crowds safe.

Cincinnati police say the investigation is active, and detectives are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses. Officials urge anyone with information to come forward to help clarify exactly what led to the deadly encounter on Third Street.

As the community reels from the loss of life and the shock of the arrest, questions remain about how and why the shooting happened. For now, investigators are combing through details to piece together a timeline and uncover what triggered a fatal burst of gunfire in an area usually filled with laughter and music.
