The quiet stretch of road just south of Montgomery turned tragic Tuesday night when a deadly collision claimed the life of 36-year-old Tracey E. Huffman, a well-known member of the Prattville community.
Authorities say the crash happened on Woodley Road near Snowdoun Chambers Road in Montgomery County on the evening of March 10, 2026. The area sits just about a mile south of Montgomery, a rural corridor where traffic moves quickly between small communities and farmland.

According to investigators, Huffman was driving a 2021 Ram pickup when it collided with a 2006 Peterbilt tractor-trailer. The truck was being operated by 28-year-old Jacob A. Asberry of Selma. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but Huffman’s injuries were severe. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
State troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division quickly secured the area while firefighters and first responders worked around the wreckage. Traffic was redirected as investigators began piecing together what led to the collision on that dark stretch of road.
For people back home in Prattville, the loss hit hard. Friends say Huffman was the kind of neighbor who showed up when someone needed help. He was known for his warm personality, quick humor, and a generous spirit that made him easy to like and even easier to remember.
Many who knew him describe a man who valued family, friendship, and simple moments with the people around him. In the hours after the news spread, messages of grief and support poured in from across the community, with neighbors sharing stories about the kindness he carried into everyday life.
As investigators continue to examine the circumstances behind the crash, Huffman’s family is preparing to say goodbye. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
For now, the town of Prattville is holding close to the memory of a man whose life touched many others. The road where the crash happened has reopened, but the loss left behind is something the community will carry for a long time.
