Town of Gates woke up to tragedy Monday morning after a violent crash on Elmgrove Road left a 31-year-old motorcyclist dead. The victim was identified as Scott Kruppenbacher of Greece, New York.
The crash happened around 6:45 a.m. along a busy stretch of Elmgrove Road. A motorcycle and a pickup truck collided under circumstances that are still under investigation.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene shortly after the impact. When they arrived, Kruppenbacher was found with severe injuries that proved fatal.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, ending what had begun as an ordinary early morning ride.
News of his death quickly spread through the area, hitting hard in the Greece community where he lived. A routine commute turned into a sudden loss that left families and neighbors shaken.
Police closed off Elmgrove Road between Spencerport Road and Deming Street for several hours. The shutdown allowed investigators to carefully examine the crash site and gather early evidence.
