Durham woke up to heartbreak early Wednesday after police found 27-year-old Shakeva Dixon and 36-year-old Maurice Langston dead inside an apartment at Crestview Apartments off Crest Street. Officers say the two were once a couple and shared two children, a detail that has deepened the shock across the community.
Police identified Dixon as a Durham resident and Langston as being from Goldsboro. Both were found with gunshot wounds inside the apartment. The call came in during the early morning hours, and what officers discovered quickly turned a quiet complex into a tightly sealed crime scene.
