VIRGINIA BEACH Crash Claims Teen Passenger’s Life on Head River Road
Virginia Beach police are piecing together a quiet neighborhood’s midnight horror after a single‑vehicle crash along Head River Road early Tuesday left a 17‑year‑old girl dead and another young person hurt.
It was just after 12:10 a.m. when officers and rescue crews were called to the 3200 block of Head River Road. Neighbors reported hearing the sudden sound of a car leaving the roadway, and when first responders arrived, they found the vehicle had smashed into a tree off the westbound side of the road.

The front‑seat passenger, identified by authorities as 17‑year‑old Bella Morrill of Virginia Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her youth, her local roots, and the fact that she was just a passenger make this loss especially painful for her community.
A second passenger in the car was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that officials describe as non‑life‑threatening. The driver remained at the scene and has been fully cooperating with the Virginia Beach Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit, which is handling the investigation.
Preliminary reports suggest the vehicle never regained control after veering off the road, but investigators have not yet said what caused that loss of control. Speed, road conditions and any possible impairment are all still under active review.
Friends and family members have begun to share memories of Bella online, describing her as warm, joyful, and someone who lifted the spirits of those around her. Her sudden death has sent shockwaves through her circle, with many still struggling to make sense of the tragedy.
Police are urging anyone with information about the crash to contact the Virginia Beach Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Solvers. Even small details can help bring clarity to what happened on that stretch of Head River Road.
