A quiet Wednesday afternoon in East St. Louis turned tragic when 25-year-old Nikajha Thee Alchemistt lost her life following a shooting that remains under investigation.
According to authorities, the incident happened shortly after 1:00 p.m. on June 3 in the 2400 block of Ridge Avenue. Police said Nikajha was shot under circumstances that investigators are still working to understand.

Officials reported that after the shooting occurred, her vehicle continued moving down the roadway. The vehicle eventually crashed into a concrete pillar near the intersection of 25th Street and Cleveland Avenue, creating a second scene that drew emergency responders and law enforcement officers.
When first responders arrived, they found Nikajha suffering from critical injuries. Paramedics immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital, where medical teams worked to save her life.
Despite those efforts, she later died from her injuries. Her death has left family members, friends, and community residents searching for answers as investigators continue to piece together what happened during the deadly encounter.
