Arcadia Florida: Tanika Summers Killed in Apartment Shooting

The quiet morning at a small apartment complex in Arcadia, Florida, was shattered by violence that left two women dead and a community searching for answers. What began as a domestic disturbance quickly turned into a devastating double homicide that unfolded over several hours.

Police say officers were called around 9:13 a.m. to the Jacaranda Trail Apartments on Hargrave Street after reports of gunfire tied to a domestic situation. When they arrived, they found a woman inside one of the units suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities later identified her as Tanika Summers.

Investigators moved quickly, securing the area and trying to piece together what had just happened. Not long after, officers located a man believed to be connected to the shooting. He was identified as 45-year-old Eric Devon Robinson and was taken into custody nearby without any struggle.

As the investigation continued, what seemed like a single tragic killing took an even darker turn. Around 1:09 p.m., officers were alerted to another unresponsive woman in a different building within the same apartment complex. When they arrived, they discovered she had also been shot multiple times. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not yet been released.

The discovery of the second victim deepened the shock across the neighborhood. Residents who had already been shaken by the morning’s violence now faced the reality that two lives had been lost within the same complex in just a matter of hours.

Authorities believe the killings are connected and describe the case as a domestic-related incident. While the exact relationship between those involved is still being examined, officials have emphasized that the violence appears to be isolated.

Police have also reassured the public that there is no ongoing threat. Still, the weight of what happened lingers heavily, especially for those who knew the victims or live nearby.

Investigators from both the Arcadia Police Department and the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office remain on the case, working carefully to understand what led up to the shootings and how the events unfolded. For now, many questions remain unanswered as the community waits for more details.
