Lufkin, Texas — Saturday morning started like any other in East Texas, but it ended in a tragedy that has left the Pollok community completely heartbroken. Around 10:15 a.m., a violent two-vehicle wreck on College Drive took the life of 26-year-old Dmarcus Hadnot. Dmarcus wasn’t alone in his final moments; his dog, who was riding right there with him, also didn’t make it out of the crash.
The scene was a tough one for folks to witness. Dmarcus was heading west in his Kia near the entrance of Texas Bible College—a spot most locals know is always humming with traffic. Out of nowhere, his car was hit by a Mercedes driven by 65-year-old George Fidone. While Mr. Fidone walked away with injuries that weren’t life-threatening, the impact was much worse for those in the Kia.
Inside the car with Dmarcus was 24-year-old Paige Turner. She was badly hurt and had to be rushed by helicopter to a hospital over in Tyler. Right now, everyone is holding their breath and saying prayers for her recovery. It’s the kind of news that stops a small town in its tracks, making you want to hug your own people a little tighter tonight.
The Lufkin Police are still out there trying to piece together exactly what went wrong. They’re looking closely at how fast the cars were going and where they were positioned when they hit. For now, they’re reminding everyone to slow down and keep their eyes peeled, especially in those busy areas near our schools and colleges where things can change in a split second.

Even though he was only 26, he clearly made a big footprint on the hearts of those around him. The community is already pulling together, showing that legendary East Texas spirit by supporting his grieving family and rooting for Paige.
