ST. GEORGE — A homicide investigation is underway after a shooting Saturday morning on the 100 block of Earl Drive claimed the life of Jump Da Fenxe. Deputies from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the quiet residential block around 7:19 a.m. and found Fenxe suffering from gunshot wounds. Life-saving efforts by officers couldn’t prevent their death at the scene.
Officials from the sheriff’s office have confirmed that they’ve identified those involved and are speaking with witnesses, but they have not confirmed arrests or detailed motives at this stage of the probe. Detectives with the criminal investigations division are working to determine exactly what happened and why. The investigation remains active with law enforcement asking anyone with details to come forward and help bring answers.

While authorities piece together the facts, the community in St. George is left grappling with fear and sorrow. Neighbors said Saturday’s shooting was out of character for the 100 block of Earl Drive, a street they have long thought of as safe and familiar. The sudden loss has stirred deep concern about violence and safety in this part of South Carolina.
Friends described Fenxe as someone with a bright personality who had strong ties in town. Their death has become a focal point for conversations among residents about crime and change in their community. Some have gathered informally to talk about what Fenxe meant to them and to urge others to help law enforcement with information that might clarify the shooting.
At the scene, sheriff’s deputies kept a perimeter while investigators moved through the block, collecting evidence and talking to people who might have heard or seen something before, during, or after the shooting. Yellow police tape and patrol cruisers stayed in place for much of the morning as the work unfolded.
For family and friends, the hardest part is waiting. They want the investigation to move quickly, not just for justice but for closure. The sheriff’s office has said it will release more information when it’s ready, but for now many answers remain out of reach.
In the meantime, the community continues to mourn Fenxe’s death, hoping that the facts will soon emerge and that those responsible will be held accountable.
