The morning light had barely settled over Caddo Parish when a routine start to the day turned tragic. Twenty-year-old Tony Strobeck lost his life Friday morning in what deputies are calling a freak accident involving a utility task vehicle, or UTV.
According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 10:15 a.m. on February 27 in the 1200 block of Barron Road, between Monroe Drive and Barron Ridge Lane. Deputies were dispatched after reports came in that a man had been struck by a UTV.

Investigators said the two men involved were related. One of them was attempting to start the UTV while Tony stood behind it. For reasons that remain unclear, the vehicle went into reverse when it started and backed over him.
Emergency crews responded quickly. Despite those efforts, Tony died from the injuries he sustained. What unfolded in seconds left a family facing a lifetime without him.
Authorities have indicated it is doubtful that any charges will be filed. From all available information, deputies believe the incident was a tragic accident rather than a criminal act.
The sheriff’s office is urging residents to be cautious when operating any motor vehicle, including UTVs. Even a familiar machine can become dangerous in a split second. Awareness and simple safety checks can mean the difference between an ordinary day and irreversible loss.
For Tony’s family and friends, the focus now is not on the mechanics of what went wrong but on the young man they loved. What started as a normal Friday ended in deep grief. He is being remembered for his life, not the accident that took it. The investigation remains ongoing as the community gathers around those he leaves behind.
