Deputies were called to a residence along Beaver Trail around 8:30 a.m. on March 19. When they arrived, they discovered Amidon already dead inside the home. What followed was a tense and dangerous encounter that pushed the situation far beyond a routine response.
Investigators identified the suspect as 43-year-old Ricky O’Neil Beck Jr., also from Warrior. As a Blount County sheriff’s deputy approached the scene, Beck fled in a vehicle. The confrontation triggered a manhunt that spread into the Mountain Lake Road area near Beaver Trail and Alabama 160. Law enforcement officers searched the area for hours, tracking Beck through nearby woods. The situation ended when authorities found him with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
