Police say it was around 1:51 a.m. when an officer in the area near Anthony’s Restaurant and Pub heard a burst of gunshots ring out. The sound came from the nearby Dollar Tree parking lot in the 2900 block, prompting an immediate response. Within moments, officers arrived and found Vidales suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
First responders moved quickly. The Joliet Fire Department transported Vidales to St. Joseph Medical Center in an effort to save his life. Despite those efforts, he was pronounced dead just before 3 a.m., according to the Will County Coroner’s Office.
