Bishop Jenkins, Bellwood: Teen’s Life Cut Short as Double Shooting Stuns Quiet Suburb

A quiet stretch of Bellwood turned into a crime scene early Monday morning after gunfire left two people dead in a case that continues to puzzle investigators.

Police were called to the 1100 block of 32nd Avenue around 1:33 a.m. after reports of shots being fired. When officers arrived, they found 18-year-old Bishop Jenkins and 23-year-old Sincere Aaron suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency crews rushed both victims to Loyola University Medical Center in nearby Maywood. Despite efforts to save them, both were pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The Cook County Medical Examiner later identified the victims and ruled their deaths homicides. Authorities said Jenkins died from multiple gunshot wounds. Officials also confirmed that Aaron suffered fatal gunshot injuries.

For many residents, the violence came as a shock. Bellwood has rarely seen deadly shootings in recent years, making the incident especially alarming for neighbors who woke up to flashing police lights and streets blocked by crime-scene tape.

Investigators spent hours processing evidence around the neighborhood. The West Suburban Major Crimes Task Force joined Bellwood police in the investigation as detectives worked to determine exactly what happened before the shooting erupted.

As of Tuesday, no arrests had been made. Authorities have not announced a motive, and they have not said whether Jenkins and Aaron knew each other before the attack. Those unanswered questions have left many people searching for answers.

Police continue to ask anyone with information to come forward as detectives piece together the events that led to the deadly shooting. For now, two families are grieving the sudden loss of loved ones while a community waits for justice and clarity.
