Roswell, Ga., Kenneth Taylor: Road rage gunfire leaves 57-year-old driver shot multiple times during Cobb County confrontation

Kenneth Taylor’s morning drive turned violent in Roswell after what started as a routine commute in Cobb County spiraled into a road rage shooting that left him seriously injured. The 57-year-old was struck multiple times during a dispute between two drivers that quickly escalated beyond control.

The incident began around 11:13 a.m. near Woodstock Road and Mabry Road, where the first reports of a shooting tied to a traffic dispute came in. Investigators say the confrontation started between Taylor and another driver in what appeared to be an aggressive exchange on the road.

During the altercation, shots were fired into Taylor’s vehicle. Even after being hit, he managed to stay conscious and continue driving, crossing into Roswell as he tried to get away from danger and find help.

He eventually stopped near Highway 92 and Laurel Lake Road. That is where he was able to alert authorities. Officers arriving at the scene found him still awake, alert, and breathing, despite suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency responders rushed Taylor to North Fulton Hospital. Medical officials described his condition as serious but not life-threatening, and he is currently receiving treatment.

While Taylor was being cared for, investigators worked quickly to trace the suspect. Surveillance footage and witness accounts helped authorities track a gold SUV believed to be involved, moving toward Cherokee County after the shooting.

The suspect was later identified as 47-year-old Bashir Beal of Acworth. He was located by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and taken into custody before being handed over to Cobb County police.

Authorities say Beal has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The exact trigger of the confrontation remains unclear, and investigators say multiple shots were fired during the incident.

Police have not confirmed how many people were in each vehicle at the time, and the full sequence of events is still being pieced together. The case remains active as officials continue gathering evidence.

Anyone with additional information is being asked to contact Cobb County Police investigators as the inquiry moves forward.
