Xavier Martin, High Point: It started as a normal early morning on Bethel Drive, but it ended in a way nobody in the neighborhood expected. Xavier Martin, 46, is now being remembered after a deadly confrontation that unfolded just after midnight hours.
According to investigators, the trouble began outside a residence on Bethel Drive. A disagreement broke out involving a loose dog. Witnesses said Xavier kicked toward the animal, and that moment quickly changed the tone of the encounter

The dog’s owner reportedly took offense, and the situation escalated fast. What started as words turned into a physical fight between the two men who knew each other.
During the altercation, Xavier was stabbed. The injury was severe, and it immediately put his life in danger. Even then, the situation did not end at the scene.
In a striking detail, Xavier managed to get into his vehicle and drive himself toward Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center around 3:55 a.m. He was trying to reach help on his own.
By the time he arrived at the hospital, he was in critical condition. Medical staff rushed him into emergency care and began life-saving efforts right away.
Despite everything doctors and nurses did, Xavier did not survive. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, leaving behind shock, confusion, and grief.
