A late-night motorcycle ride through Green Township ended in tragedy when 65-year-old Anthony Evans lost his life after colliding with a deer on U.S. Route 52.
The fatal crash happened shortly before midnight on June 5 near mile marker 25. Authorities said Evans was riding a 1997 Suzuki Intruder 800 eastbound when a deer suddenly crossed the roadway in front of him.

Investigators determined that the motorcycle struck the animal, setting off a chain of events that left Evans critically injured. Emergency crews responded to the scene, but there was little they could do.
Evans was pronounced dead at the crash site. The sudden loss has added to growing concerns about the dangers deer pose to motorists, especially during nighttime hours when visibility is limited and animals are more active.
Officials said Evans was not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred. While investigators continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident, no other vehicles were reported to be involved.
For many riders, encounters with wildlife happen without warning. A deer can appear in the roadway within seconds, leaving little time to react. That reality appears to have played a major role in this heartbreaking crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Georgetown Post is handling the investigation. Troopers continue to remind drivers and motorcyclists to remain alert on rural highways, particularly after dark when wildlife activity increases.
Family members and friends are now left mourning a man whose ride ended far too soon on a stretch of highway that became the scene of a devastating loss.
