Najalee Rivera, Elyria: Tragic rollover crash cuts young mother’s life short while her three kids miraculously survive.

Friday started out like any other morning for a young family from Lorain. But a routine drive turned into an absolute nightmare on the highway. A young mother lost her life in a split second.

Najalee N. Rivera was only 28 years old. She was driving her Toyota RAV4 down the road with her three little kids inside. No one expected that this trip would be her very last.

The crash happened just before noon at around 11:54 a.m. Rivera was heading eastbound on the busy Ohio Turnpike. For reasons still unknown, things went south near milepost 146.3 in Elyria Township.

Her SUV suddenly veered off the right side of the pavement. The vehicle smacked right into a guardrail and flipped completely over. It was a violent rollover that ended in total tragedy.

First responders rushed to the scene but it was already too late for Rivera. The young mother was pronounced dead right there on the highway. Officials later confirmed she was not wearing her seat belt.

Meanwhile, her three babies were trapped inside the wrecked SUV. The passengers included a 7-year-old boy, an 8-year-old girl, and a tiny 4-year-old girl. It is an absolute miracle that they survived the horrific flip.

LifeCare ambulances quickly rushed the three injured children to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. Thankfully, state troopers say their physical injuries are not life-threatening. They are left without their mom, but they are going to pull through physically.
