The tight-knit community of Seminary is dealing with a heavy cloud of grief this week. Andretta M. English, a bright and deeply respected 30-year-old woman, lost her life following a terrible motorcycle crash over the weekend. For a small town where everybody knows everybody, losing someone who spent her entire adulthood protecting others hits incredibly close to home.
The tragic accident took place on Saturday afternoon right around 2:10 p.m. on Highway 589. Local officials say that English was riding her northbound Honda motorcycle when a southbound Chevrolet Silverado suddenly collided with her. The impact was severe, leaving the young investigator with critical, life-threatening injuries while the two people inside the truck walked away completely unharmed.

First responders rushed English to a nearby trauma hospital, where a team of intensive care doctors and surgeons worked around the clock. They made a truly heroic effort to save her, but her injuries were simply too devastating. Early Sunday morning, she took her final breath, leaving behind a heartbroken family and an entire region in deep mourning.
Before she ever put on a badge, English was already a familiar face to locals in their darkest hours. She spent nearly ten full years working on the front lines as an EMT and paramedic with the AAA Ambulance Service. She was the person who showed up when people called 911 in a panic, offering a calm voice and steady hands.
In early 2024, she decided to take her passion for service a step further by joining the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office. She started out as a patrol deputy, working long shifts on the roads. Because of her sharp mind and quiet strength, her bosses noticed her talent immediately and promoted her to the criminal investigations division just a few months ago.
Even the highest levels of state government have paused to recognize the massive loss. Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves shared his thoughts publicly, noting that English spent her brief life completely dedicated to helping other people and that her impact on her community would never be forgotten.
Right now, her family and closest friends are leaning on each other to get through this agonizing reality. They are focusing on honoring her memory, her fierce professionalism, and the massive legacy she leaves behind at just 30 years old. Funeral arrangements and memorial services are still being planned and will be shared as soon as they are ready.
