PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Markeise Gipson, a 21-year-old man from Pine Bluff, was shot and killed late Friday night outside the Two Brothers One Stop convenience store on South Blake Street. Police say the call came in just after 8:30 p.m., and when officers arrived at the scene, Gipson was lying on the pavement in front of the store. He had suffered what appeared to be fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Two other men were hit by gunfire during the same incident. Both were taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Law enforcement sources say both survived and were expected to recover. Officers have not identified the two injured men publicly, but say their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Witnesses described a sudden burst of gunfire in the busy parking lot. Some people at the scene said they heard multiple shots and immediately called 911. Police have not released a possible motive, and detectives say the investigation is still very early. Officers are asking for help from the public as they try to piece together what happened that night.
Investigators say the suspects were seen leaving the scene in a gray wide-body Dodge Charger with a black roof, a spoiler and a hood scoop. Authorities have not confirmed any arrests and are urging anyone with information to contact the Pine Bluff Police Department. The department has set up a tip line for people who might know something that could help the case.
Friends and family of Gipson described him as someone who “loved to laugh” and “had plans for the future” before his life was cut short. Neighbors said the convenience store is a familiar place on South Blake Street where many residents stop on their way home. The shooting has left the close-knit community shaken, with some saying they want answers and justice for Gipson’s family.
Police continue canvassing the area for surveillance video and tips. They say even small pieces of information could help lead to the person or people responsible for the violence. For now, the quiet street outside the convenience store remains marked by yellow police tape, a reminder of a life lost and others forever changed.
