PINE BLUFF Focus Turns to Suspect, Gray Dodge Charger in Convenience Store Shooting

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Investigators are focusing their efforts on tracking down suspects seen fleeing the scene of a deadly shooting at the Two Brothers One Stop convenience store late Friday night that left Markeise Gipson, 21, dead. Police say they responded just after 8:30 p.m. to shots fired at the store on South Blake Street and found Gipson unresponsive in the store’s parking lot.

Two other men were also struck by gunfire. First responders took them to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where doctors treated them for injuries police described as non-life-threatening. Authorities have described the shooting as a chaotic event, with bystanders reporting multiple rounds fired before officers arrived.

Detectives have released details about the vehicle they believe the shooters fled in: a gray wide-body Dodge Charger with a black roof, hood scoop and rear spoiler. Police have not yet confirmed whether anyone has been arrested in connection with the shooting, but they are urging residents to come forward if they saw anything unusual that night.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear. Police say they are exploring all angles, including possible disputes that could have led up to the violence. Officers have been reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and are asking anyone who may have video or information to contact the department’s detective office or tip line.

The search for the suspects has left many in Pine Bluff uneasy. Residents in the area said the convenience store is a regular stop for people heading home in the evening, and they are concerned that such violence could happen in broad daylight. Some community members have called for increased safety measures as police continue their investigation.

Meanwhile, Gipson’s family and friends are mourning his loss. Those who knew him describe him as a young man with close ties to the neighborhood. They say they are struggling to understand why this happened and are urging anyone with information to speak up.

Police say the case remains active and ask that anyone with details, even if they seem small, contact detectives. For now, the search continues for those responsible as Pine Bluff grapples with the aftermath of a deadly night.
