SEBASTIAN COUNTY UTV CRASH KILLS CRYSTAL BIELER IN FORT SMITH

SEBASTIAN COUNTY, Arkansas — Crystal Bieler, 41, was killed early Wednesday when a UTV she was riding in crashed near State Highway 96 and Dalmut Road. It was about 2 a.m. when the side‑by‑side rolled into a ditch after its driver lost control on a curve.

The crash happened in clear weather on a dry road, leaving neighbors and friends in shock over a quiet winter night turned tragic. Emergency crews found Bieler unresponsive at the scene. She was pronounced dead before she could be taken to a hospital.

The driver, who has not been publicly identified, was hurt in the rollover. First responders took that person to a nearby medical center with injuries that authorities say are not believed to be life‑threatening.

Witnesses told investigators the UTV was moving westbound when it failed to navigate a right turn and slid off the pavement. The vehicle tumbled into a roadside ditch and flipped, trapping its occupants.

Friends described Bieler as warm, funny and always ready with a smile for anyone who crossed her path. Her loss is felt deeply in Fort Smith, where neighbors have been leaving flowers and notes at makeshift memorials near the crash site.

Arkansas State Police confirmed the wreck remains under investigation. No charges have been announced, and investigators say speed and alcohol are among the factors they are looking into.

For those who knew her, Bieler’s death is a painful reminder of how swiftly life can change. Family members are planning services and asking for privacy as they remember her laughter and her generous spirit.
