Clarke County, Alabama is grieving after a deadly early morning crash claimed the life of Officer Dallas Hinton, a 25-year-old member of the Thomasville Police Department. The incident happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. along U.S. Highway 43 near mile marker 90.
Authorities say Hinton was on duty and driving his patrol vehicle when the crash occurred. Preliminary findings show his unit struck the rear of a logging truck or a container-style trailer traveling ahead of him.
The impact was severe. The patrol car immediately caught fire after the collision. Emergency crews rushed to the scene within minutes, but the damage was already done.
