North Harris County: Julianna Cardenas Killed After Dispute Turns Deadly in Apartment Shooting

North Harris County turned tragic on Sunday when a dispute among a small group of people ended in gunfire that left 22-year-old Julianna Cardenas dead. The shooting happened near an apartment complex in the 12655 Kuykendahl Road area close to West Rankin Road.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called out after reports of gunshots in the area. When they arrived, they found two women suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both women were rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts by medical staff, Julianna Cardenas did not survive. She was later pronounced dead. The second woman survived and was treated for her injuries.

Investigators said the situation did not start at the apartment complex. The group, which included two women and a man, had already been involved in an earlier disagreement at another location before coming together again.

Authorities said the women were trying to meet as part of an ongoing personal dispute connected to an argument involving a man. What began as tension and words quickly escalated once they arrived at the apartment complex.

The confrontation intensified, and shots were fired during the dispute. Deputies later confirmed that a man, identified as 26-year-old Javon Brown, was arrested in connection with the shooting.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed Brown was taken into custody and booked into the Harris County Jail, where he is being held on a murder charge. The investigation is still active as detectives work through what led to the deadly escalation.
