Everything changed in an instant around 10:54 p.m. right outside the facility on Vollmer Road. Dylan ended up getting into a sudden argument with a food delivery driver out in the employee parking lot. Nobody knows exactly what sparked the disagreement, but the tension between the two men escalated incredibly fast.
What started as a simple exchange of words quickly turned into a physical fight. Before anyone nearby could intervene, the delivery driver pulled out a gun and fired multiple times. Dylan was hit several times in the torso, collapsing near the front entrance of the building while the shooter quickly drove away.

Matteson police officers arrived at the scene within minutes after receiving urgent calls about shots fired. They found Dylan on the ground suffering from severe gunshot wounds. The responding officers immediately jumped into action and gave him first aid right there on the pavement.
Paramedics quickly rushed Dylan to Franciscan St. James Health Olympia Fields Hospital. Medical staff tried everything they could to save the young man’s life, but his injuries were simply too critical. He was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived at the hospital.
His family is now completely broken by the sudden loss. His grieving mother, Pamela Perkins, is left struggling to understand how a minor argument could lead to her son being murdered. She expressed that people need to learn how to just walk away from trivial things. His older sister, Kimberly, pointed out that large companies need to do a much better job securing their parking lots to keep workers safe.
The community is now trying to support Dylan’s loved ones through an incredibly dark time. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help his family take care of the unexpected funeral, burial, and legal expenses. While police say there is no ongoing threat to the public, a mother is still left mourning a son whose life was stolen over nothing.
