Portsmouth Virginia was shaken late Saturday night after a deadly shooting claimed the life of Christopher M. Blair, 47, in the Mayflower Road area. The incident unfolded on April 18, 2026, leaving neighbors stunned by the sudden violence in what many described as a quiet street.
Police say officers were called to the 200 block of Mayflower Road around 10:44 p.m. after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found Blair suffering from a gunshot wound outside the residence.
Emergency responders rushed him to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Medical teams worked to save him, but he later died from his injuries. Officials confirmed he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.

Cherry was arrested shortly after the incident without resistance. He is now facing charges including First Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Shooting in Committing or Attempting a Felony. He is being held without bond as the case moves forward.
