A young woman named Keyshia M. Ortiz-Benitez had her life cut incredibly short early Saturday morning on a dark city street. The sudden tragedy happened around 3:50 a.m. when a vehicle struck her down while she was walking as a pedestrian.
Local cops rushed to the scene on Ledyard Street right after getting a chaotic call about a person being hit by a car. The location was just south of Wawarme Avenue, an area that quickly turned into an active emergency zone.
When the first responders finally pulled up to the scene, they found Ortiz-Benitez lying on the ground with absolutely critical injuries. The situation looked incredibly grim for her from the very start.
Emergency personnel did not hesitate and immediately started intense lifesaving efforts to keep her alive. They did everything they possibly could right there on the pavement to save her.
Despite those frantic efforts by the medical workers, she could not hold on. She was officially pronounced dead right there because of the severe injuries she took from the impact of the collision.
