Sterling Thomas, Boise: Community shatters as local fifteen-year-old riding an e-bike loses his life in a devastating collision.

A quiet summer evening turned into an absolute nightmare on the Boise Bench this past Thursday. A bright young kid with his whole life ahead of him is suddenly gone. Fifteen-year-old Sterling Wolfgang Thomas, known to everyone who loved him simply as Wolf, lost his life after a terrible crash. The neighborhood is left trying to pick up the pieces of a sudden, deep tragedy.

It all happened right around 8 p.m. on July 2. Wolf was out riding a 750-watt electric bicycle equipped with pedals. He was traveling westbound near a busy neighborhood crossroads. He had a young girl riding along with him as a passenger. Nobody expected a normal summer bike ride to take such a dark turn.

Suddenly, a motorcycle traveling northbound collided with Wolf’s e-bike. The impact occurred right near the intersection of Phillippi Street and Morris Hill Road. First responders rushed to the scene immediately after getting the emergency call. Local police and fire crews did everything they could to help.

Paramedics worked frantically to revive the young teen right there on the pavement. Wolf was then rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Medical staff continued trying to save him. Tragically, he passed away a short time later despite all the desperate efforts to keep him alive.

The juvenile girl riding on the back of the e-bike luckily survived the crash. She was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Meanwhile, the adult male riding the motorcycle suffered serious injuries. Officials state his injuries are serious but non-life-threatening, and he remains under medical care.

As news of Wolf’s passing spread, his family faced an overwhelming wave of grief. His uncle quickly stepped up to organize an online fundraiser to help with the heavy financial burden of a sudden tragedy. The campaign is titled “A Loving Farewell for Sterling ‘Wolf’ Thomas.” It has already raised nearly $20,000 from a community trying to show its love.

Right now, the local intersection is open again after being shut down for hours. Traffic detectives and crash reconstruction specialists spent the night gathering evidence. The investigation is still very active. Authorities have not filed any official charges against anyone involved yet.
