Xavier Martin High Point: Loose dog confrontation turns deadly in early morning stabbing
Xavier Martin, High Point: a routine morning ends in a deadly street argument.

A 46-year-old man, Xavier Martin, drove himself into Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center in the early hours of Friday. He was badly stabbed. He pulled up around 3:55 a.m., already in critical condition.
Hospital staff rushed to help him. They tried everything they could to stabilize him. But the injuries were too severe. He was later pronounced dead.
Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit quickly arrived at the hospital. They began piecing together what happened in the hours before Xavier showed up bleeding and alone.
Their findings led them to a residence on Bethel Drive in High Point. That was where the confrontation started.
According to witness accounts, it began over a loose dog in the area. Xavier allegedly kicked toward the animal. That moment triggered anger from the dog’s owner.
The situation escalated fast. Police say a 60-year-old man, David Scarborough, got into a physical fight with Xavier. The fight turned violent and ended with Xavier being stabbed.
Even after the stabbing, Xavier managed to get into his vehicle and drive himself to the hospital. He did not survive his injuries.
Detectives later located Scarborough and arrested him without incident around 1:00 p.m. the same day. He was charged with second-degree murder.
Police describe the case as isolated, involving people who already knew each other. They say there is no ongoing danger to the public.
The death marks another homicide in High Point this year. For Xavier’s family, it is a sudden and painful loss that began with a small street dispute and ended in tragedy.
