Jarrod Holt, 51, has died after a sudden medical emergency that unfolded shortly after his arrest in La Marque, Texas. His passing has left family and loved ones facing shock and grief as questions remain about the final hours of his life.
He was taken into custody by the La Marque Police Department early on May 3, 2026, at about 4:49 a.m. Officers arrested him on a felony parole board warrant. What began as a routine arrest quickly turned into a tragic chain of events that no one expected.

After the arrest, Holt was transported to the Galveston County Jail around 5:39 a.m. While there, he was evaluated by UTMB medical staff as part of intake procedures. During that evaluation, he reportedly admitted to ingesting cocaine, a detail that later became central to what happened next.
Shortly after that admission, his condition began to worsen rapidly. Staff on site responded immediately as concern grew over his health. What followed was a medical emergency that escalated within minutes.
Emergency CPR was administered by jail personnel and medical staff in an effort to stabilize him. Despite those efforts, Holt was rushed to UTMB Galveston Hospital as his condition continued to decline.
At the hospital, doctors worked to save his life, but he was pronounced dead at 6:44 a.m. The suddenness of the decline has left many struggling to understand how quickly things changed in such a short period of time.
Officials with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office later informed the Texas Rangers and the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office. An independent investigation has now been launched to examine the circumstances surrounding his death.
For those who knew Jarrod Holt, the official timeline only tells part of the story. What remains is the human weight of loss. Family and friends are now left holding memories, grief, and unanswered questions about a life that ended far too suddenly.
