Columbia County Grovetown High Soccer Star Elijah Lemeuble Dies in Wildwood Park Drowning

Columbia County Grovetown High School soccer standout Elijah Lemeuble has died after a drowning incident at Wildwood Park in Columbia County on Saturday evening.

The 17-year-old was reportedly at the park when emergency services received a distress call around 7:46 p.m. on April 11.

Deputies arrived at the scene shortly after the call and began a search operation in the lake area of the park.

Authorities later confirmed that the body of Lemeuble, a resident of Grovetown, was recovered from the water near the park.

He was a well-known student-athlete at Grovetown High School, where friends and classmates are now struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.

Officials from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said the circumstances surrounding the drowning remain under review.

No additional details have been released, and it is still not clear what led to the incident at the lake.

Wildwood Park, a popular recreational area in Columbia County, includes a large lake where the tragedy occurred.

School officials have not yet issued a public statement, while the community continues to mourn a young life described by many as promising and full of energy.
