PORTSMOUTH, Virginia — On a quiet Thursday night that turned tragic, city police and emergency crews rushed to the intersection of Elm Avenue and High Street just before 11 p.m. after a three-vehicle crash left two people dead and another injured.
Police say a vehicle heading west on High Street ran into another car near Elm Avenue. The impact pushed that car into a parked pickup truck. Inside the struck car, 23-year-old Ny Asia Hill and 24-year-old Deandre Lilly were found unresponsive. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, leaving friends, families and neighbors stunned by the sudden loss.

The driver of the vehicle that triggered the crash was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that authorities have not fully detailed. While officials have not yet confirmed specific charges, police say alcohol played a role in the collision and that charges are expected as the investigation continues.
Tonight’s accident closed the busy intersection for hours as detectives and forensic teams combed through evidence. Officers worked into the night trying to piece together what led to such a devastating chain of events in a neighborhood that usually hums with traffic and life.
Witnesses described hearing the crash from blocks away, the sound echoing in the cold air. Some told reporters they rushed to help before emergency crews arrived, only to be met with the grim reality that two young people had already died.
Families of Hill and Lilly have been notified and are being consoled by loved ones. Their sudden deaths have sent ripples through the community, with many mourning two promising lives cut short on a routine evening drive.
Police continue to urge anyone who may have seen the crash or who has information to come forward to help the investigation bring clarity and justice in this heartbreaking case.
