North Wilkesboro, N.C. — Winston Poe Killed in Late-Night Motorcycle Crash on Mountain Valley Church Road

North Wilkesboro, N.C. — Winston Jahleel Poe, 22, of North Wilkesboro, lost his life following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash late Tuesday night along Mountain Valley Church Road near Cora Caudill Road, just before 10:00 P.M.

Authorities with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said troopers arrived quickly after reports of a serious crash involving a 2025 Kawasaki Ninja. The initial findings show Poe was riding westbound when he lost control of the motorcycle.

Investigators reported that the bike left the roadway, struck a guardrail, and overturned. The force of the crash caused Poe to be thrown across the guardrail, resulting in severe injuries.

Emergency responders worked on scene immediately before transporting him to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center. Despite medical efforts, he later died from his injuries.

Officials have confirmed that no charges will be filed in connection with the crash. The incident remains classified as a single-vehicle accident.

For those who knew him, Winston’s death is more than a police report. It is the sudden absence of a young man whose life was still unfolding, with plans and expectations still ahead of him.

Friends and family are left processing a loss that feels both sudden and unreal. In a small community like North Wilkesboro, news like this spreads fast and lands heavily.

Winston is remembered by loved ones as a son, a friend, and a young man full of energy. Those close to him recall his presence, his personality, and the everyday moments that now carry deeper meaning.

Motorcycles often represent freedom and independence for young riders, and Winston was no different in that regard. But the crash serves as a painful reminder of how quickly things can change on the road.

As the community reflects, support continues to surround the Poe family. Grief runs quietly through conversations, shared memories, and the spaces he once filled.

His life ended far too soon, but those who knew him say his memory will continue to live on in the people he impacted and the stories they continue to tell.
