FREEPORT, Texas: Bay City Man Carson Dilleree Dies After Morning Crash

Freeport, Texas — Early Friday morning turned tragic when a young man from Bay City lost his life in a motorcycle crash on FM 1495, just in front of Port Freeport. The fog was thick and visibility was low when the collision happened around 6:40 a.m., leaving a tight‑knit community reeling.

Carson Dilleree, 20, was riding his 2021 Harley‑Davidson along the 1000 block of the road. Investigators say a gray 2018 Hyundai Sonata was attempting to turn left across traffic and pulled directly into his path. Emergency crews arrived quickly and both drivers were taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s Health–Brazosport Hospital in Lake Jackson.

Doctors worked on Dilleree, but his injuries were too severe. He died at the hospital hours later. The 19‑year‑old driver of the Hyundai also went to the hospital but was treated for injuries that were not life‑threatening. Police charged him with failing to yield the right of way while turning left.

Freeport officers noted the heavy coastal fog likely played a role in the tragedy. Drivers in the area were having trouble seeing far ahead that morning, and investigators believe that limited visibility may have been a factor in the crash.

Friends and family described Dilleree as a bright young man with his whole life ahead of him. People who knew him say he loved the open road and the freedom of riding his bike, and that his passing has left a deep sadness in Bay City and beyond.

Police continue to investigate the crash. No further charges have been announced, and authorities urge motorists to drive carefully when weather conditions make visibility a challenge.
