Freeport, Texas — A routine Friday morning ride turned fatal for 20‑year‑old motorcyclist Carson Dilleree of Bay City when his Harley‑Davidson collided with another vehicle in heavy fog near Port Freeport. The impact happened around 6:40 a.m. on the 1000 block of FM 1495, and the consequences were deadly.
According to police, the driver of a gray 2018 Hyundai Sonata, a 19‑year‑old from Freeport, was attempting a left turn into traffic when his car crossed directly into Dilleree’s lane. Dilleree had little time to react, and the motorcycle struck the front of the Sonata hard. Both men were rushed to St. Luke’s Health–Brazosport Hospital in Lake Jackson.

Dilleree’s injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital later that morning. The Hyundai driver survived and was treated for non‑fatal injuries. Freeport police cited him for failure to yield the right of way while turning left.
Officers at the scene noted that visibility was poor due to thick fog, which had settled over the coastal area before sunrise. Investigators say that, combined with the left turn, the fog may have prevented the Hyundai driver from seeing Dilleree’s motorcycle until it was too late.
The loss of Dilleree has hit his family and friends hard. Many describe him as energetic and full of life, with a passion for motorcycles that defined much of his free time. His death has stirred an outpouring of grief and reflection among those who knew him.
Police say the crash remains under investigation as they piece together the sequence of events. The community has been left to grapple with the sudden loss of a young life in an everyday setting that turned tragic.
