Fear swept through a quiet Rockdale County neighborhood after deputies said a violent family dispute ended with a 4-year-old child being taken from home late at night. What began as a visit quickly turned into a frantic search that had neighbors, deputies, and family members racing against time.
According to investigators, deputies with the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1800 block of the Smokerise East subdivision after reports of an assault and possible kidnapping involving the young child. Authorities said the child’s father, Terrence Noble, had arrived at the home alongside his girlfriend, Desiree Casswell, for a visit.

During the visit, tensions reportedly exploded inside the home. Investigators said a physical altercation broke out between Casswell and the child’s mother. The violence was so severe that the mother’s fingernails were reportedly ripped off during the struggle. Deputies described the scene as chaotic and emotionally charged.
Authorities said Noble and Casswell then left the home with the child and drove toward Atlanta. As panic grew, investigators worked through the night trying to track down the pair and safely recover the child before the situation became even more dangerous.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was contacted about issuing an Amber Alert. However, investigators reportedly determined there was no immediate threat to the child’s life at that time. Officials also said deputies did not yet have enough information about the vehicle involved. Instead, law enforcement issued a mass media alert while officers continued searching across metro Atlanta.
The City of Atlanta Police Department later joined the search effort. Deputies checked several possible locations tied to the investigation while family members were also contacted for help. Eventually, officers made contact with Noble’s mother, who stepped in and helped authorities safely return her grandchild back to Rockdale County.
Shortly after midnight, deputies confirmed the 4-year-old had been reunited with the child’s mother. Officials said the child was thankfully unharmed despite the terrifying ordeal that unfolded just hours earlier.
Sources close to the investigation later indicated that Terrence Noble and Desiree Casswell may have been taken into custody in Cobb County as investigators continued piecing together exactly what happened inside the home that night. Authorities have not yet released full details about possible charges.
For many in the community, the most emotional part of the case was the safe return of the child. What could have turned into a heartbreaking tragedy instead ended with a frightened mother finally holding her child again after hours of uncertainty, fear, and pain.
